Yesterday heavy downpour left many people stranded as the torrential rain rendered most roads impassable.
However, hundreds of others where left without a place to sleep. In Huruma, a story building holding 100 units collapsed killing 7 people and leaving the Red Cross, Police and NYS with an uphill task of recovering those trapped underneath. According to witnesses, the two bottom floors of the building caved in due to the heavy rain and the ones at the top followed.
121 people were saved by the rescuing efforts which were still ongoing. The Deputy Governor was at the scene during the rescuing operations and promised to demolish any building that does not comply with the set standards. Here are some of the photos from the incident;
